The Access Initiative

Open Government for Climate Action: Global Gathering of the Access Initiative Network

The goal of this event is to create momentum for the development of climate commitments at the OGP summit and convene climate advocates and open government experts to prioritize efforts that build the enabling environment for transparent, inclusive, and accountable implementation of NDC commitments and national adaptation plans. By providing opportunities for dialogue, action planning, as well as learning and skill building, the Gathering will focus on three central themes:

  1. Leveraging the OGP process to create climate commitments in Government National Action Plans that foster action on Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) implementation at the national level
  2. Building the capacity of civil society to drive open government processes around transparency, participation and accountability frameworks for NDC implementation
  3. Strengthening the inclusive and equitable participation of civil society in national climate coalitions that help overcome policy, institutional, and political barriers to decisive climate action.

Participants will also have an opportunity to propose their own sessions during the gathering highlighting new developments, tools, and opportunities.

Participation is by invitation only.  We are pleased to be partnering with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the World Resources Institute, Hivos, Transparency International, Pan African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA), and the OGP Support Unit in the creation of this event.
