The Access Initiative

The World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) is an international research organization focused on the use of trees on farms to improve the livelihoods of the poor while providing environmental benefits. ICRAF aims to improve human welfare by reducing poverty, increasing cash income, improving food security, and enhancing ecosystem resilience through improved agroforestry systems. The mission of the World Agroforestry Centre is to generate science-based knowledge about the diverse roles that trees can play in agricultural landscapes and use this research to advance policies and practices that benefit the poor and the environment. The ICRAF-Yunnan branch in China is currently working on a number of projects including Climate Smart Rural Development, Exploring Mekong Futures, and Sustainability and Institutionalization of Sloping Land Management.
