The Good Governance for Social Development and the Environment Institute (GSEI) is a non-profit organization which works on social development and environmental issues. The Institute also disseminates knowledge for public awareness and works on promoting sustainable development through community and individual participation. Among the institute's projects are "Good Governance, Public Participation, and the Decision-making Process for Environmental Protection, which will provide a comprehensive framework for the decision-making process for environmental protection in Thailand. GSEI integrates different interdisciplinary approaches (economics, humanities, institutional analysis, environmental sciences, etc...) to provide alternative means for sustainable development. GSEI aims not only to promote good governance and fairness for the society and the environment, but also to create a network of cooperation between academics, at the national and international levels, to build up dynamism in social and environmental development and management.
King Prajadhipoks Institute (KPI) is an independent, academic, public organization under the supervision of Thailand's National Assembly. The Institute undertakes academic work including research, training, and seminars. It disseminates information on the development of democracy and governance and provides consultation on effective governance at the local and national level. KPI coordinates and cooperates with local, foreign, and international agencies with the common goal of creating sustainable democracy.
Network of Eastern Friends: Agenda of Eastern Change, founded in 2012, is made up of 67 organizations that work together to address environmental threats, protect food sources and create joint plans for a sustainable future in Eastern Thailand. The Network demands the establishment of rules, agreements, contracts and regulations that local communities can apply to ensure the fair and sustainable exploitation of natural resources to enable local communities to protect their food security and design sustainable development plans on their own terms. The Network of Eastern Friends believes that the key to success is to balance economic development and social, political and environmental systems including natural heritage and cultural heritage.
The School of Law at the the Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University believes that it plays an important role in Thai society because there is a pressing need for the development and implementation of the law in Thailand. The School of Law aims to strengthen and develop personnel involved in the legal profession. The School offers a Bachelor's and Master's law program.
The Sustainable Development Foundation (SDF) works to promote and protect human rights, especially of vulnerable groups and those in poverty. SDF helps enable these vulnerable groups participate in natural resource management for the protection and restoration of the balance of natural resources, which will lead to livelihood development. The Foundation also promotes good governance in natural resource management, and in the development of economic, social, and environmental policy. Additionally, the Foundation performs studies and research and is working to develop the learning processes for sustainable development.
The Thailand Environment Institute (TEI) is a non-profit, non-governmental, environmental organization, focusing on environmental issues. Established in May 1993 with a working philosophy of serving as a resource for reliable and up-to-date information and knowledge . Founded on the belief that partnerships are the most effective approach in achieving sustainable development and better quality of life, the Thailand Environment Institute advocates for a participatory approach to shared environmental responsibility. By working closely with the private sector, government, local communities, other civil society partners, academia and in international circles with international organizations, TEI helps to formulate environmental directives and link policy with action to encourage meaningful environmental progress in Thailand.
