The Department of Environmental and Forestry Law in Istanbul University was established in 1977. The Department works on and teaches classes on issues including the legal basis of forest ownership, forest crime and tracking, permits and easements, legal principles of forest management, and national and international environmental and forestry legislation.
Türkiye Erozyonla Mücadele, A?açland?rma ve Do?al Varl?klar? Koruma Vakf? (TEMA) is Turkey's largest environmental non-governmental organization. TEMA aims to positively influence and impact public opinion on environmental problems, specifically soil erosion, deforestation, desertification, climate change, and biodiversity loss. The organization works to increase awareness of environmental problems and engage the public in capacity building to find solutions. TEMA also works to establish the necessary legislation and organizational structure with the support of volunteers in order to stop soil erosion. The organization operates at a local, national, and international level and implements educational activities and organizes awareness raising events and campaigns for community mobilization and empowerment.
