Environment Africa is a non-profit organization focused on responding to the needs of communities and environment in Southern Africa. The organization works with various sectors of society to protect and manage natural resources and to promote sustainable development. Environment Africa works as a community organizer and helps raise awareness to environmental issues while empowering people to protect and restore their environment. Environment Africa takes a holistic approach to environmental management and engages in cross cutting issues including poverty alleviation, gender equality, youth, social justice, and HIV/AIDS. The organization’s work is focused on four key areas: sustainable livelihoods, climate change, environmental governance, and biodiversity.

The Zimbabwe Environmental Law Association (ZELA) is a public interest law group which seeks to promote democracy, environmental justice, the sustainable and equitable use of Zimbabwe’s’ natural resources, and good governance in the environmental sector. The group’s mission is to use the law to protect the rights of local communities and conserve the environment and Zimbabwe’s natural resources. ZELA works to accomplish their mission through legal and policy research, advocacy, impact litigation, conflict resolution, and civic education. They work to help poor and marginalized communities assert and claim their economic, social, and environmental rights while ensuring that needs of these communities are met through environmental and natural resources management policies and legal framework. ZELA firmly believes that both the government and the private sector have a duty to uphold democratic values, human rights, transparency, and accountability to all people involved and affected by their work.

The Poverty Reduction Forum Trust (PRFT) is a civil society organization which seeks to influence the formulation of ‘pro-poor’ policies by conducting research on poverty related issues and engaging with policy makers. PRFT promotes evidence based policy formulation and dialogue between policy makers, development partners, and civil society on issues of sustainable human development and poverty reduction. Additionally, PRFT works to mobilize and catalyze different civil society organizations to speak out against policies, strategies, and actions that hinder poverty reduction efforts or increase the vulnerability of people to become impoverished.
